Polytetraflon™-PTFE-based High-Performance Plastics for
Demanding Applications

PolytetraflonTM PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is the name given to  a straight-chain, linear, semi-crystalline polymer consisting of fluorine and carbon.

PTFE, modified PTFE, and the PTFE compounds produced from it have an array of impressive properties that provide the ideal solution to certain technical problems.
The high service temperature and the almost universal chemical resistance allow these materials to be used in extreme conditions. The sliding and frictional behavior of PolytetraflonTM PTFE is unique and far superior to that of conventional materials.

Key Properties of Polytetraflon™-PTFE at a Glance

  • Service Temperature of between -200 °C and +260 °C (up to +300 °C for short periods)
  • Almost universal chemical resistance
  • Virtually limitless UV and weather resistance
  • Antiadhesive behavior
  • Outstanding sliding and frictional properties (no stick-slip effect)
  • Good electrical and dielectric properties
  • Inherently flame-retardant in accordance with UL 94 V-0
  • Physiologically harmless
  • Suitable for food-contact materials
