Diaphragm Details
Chemical resistance against aggressive media, flexibility and long service life are primary requirements to be met by diaphragm compounds and designs. PTFE-diaphragms are used in metering devices for the pharmaceutical and food industries, for pumps in the chemical industry and in painting technology. The stroke of the diaphragm is determined by the shape and design of the crimps, considering the effective diameter. To extend service life, specially treated PTFE-films/sheets and films/sheets made of modified PTFE (TFM) are used. For high load and stress requirements (pressure, media, stroke) PTFE-elastomer-diaphragms are suitable products. The elastomer compound (e.g. NBR, HNBR, EPDM, FKM) absorbs the forces generated by deformation, while the PTFE-coating firmly bonded with the elastomer provides protection against aggressive media. To ensure proper function, design and compound selection of diaphragms must be adapted to the respective application specifications. |
