Memory Packings
Details

 Elring memory packings are single-acting sealing elements with outstanding sliding properties used primarily for sealing reciprocating pistons and rods as well as rotary and swiveling motions. The single-part seals are made of high-strength PTFE, a fluor plastic compound, provided with a memory effect thanks to special manufacturing technology. This memory effect provides the required contact pressure on the sealing surfaces without requiring an additional spring element.
This means that initial pre-load can be kept to a minimum, providing Elring memory packings with their extremely favorable friction behavior.
Figure 33 When interacting with the purpose-developed special PTFE-compound No. HS21029 / HS21059, this results in extremely low seal lip wear and thus long service life with low break-away and displacement forces. Because the seal is installed with the open side facing toward the higher system pressure side, the sealing effect increases with increasing pressure.
